This type of showcase for young Deaf and Hard of Hearing students is inspiring!  It is vital that they see themselves in positions that allow them to dream and gain aspirational capital to believe in themselves.  These are some of the most inspiring stories out there!

This is such an important topic that I'm glad is being focused on. It's crucial that we create more accessible spaces and show representation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Great video!

This is an incredible and important series -- I'll be sharing it widely. I enjoyed seeing the process of creating the stories and the thoughtfulness that went into tailoring accessibility for the viewer. The only suggestion I'd have is to make the URL shorter so it's easier to remember and share. Thank you!

Hi team--thanks for presenting this important work. I am curious to know if you plan on creating more videos like these ones, or if this is a finished product (for now!). Have you gotten any feedback yet on how students relate to these videos? Are you disseminating them in specific ways to ensure that people learn of this resource? It looks like good work and I would also love to know more about how you ensured that the deaf STEM professionals were interviewed--were there questions you asked of everyone, or was it a more open-ended prompt? Thanks again for sharing your work!

We would like to create more videos. However, this depends on the acquisition of funds. We are in the midst of analyzing the data we have collected to date. Viewers find them very useful, interesting, and informative and would like to have many more. We are just beginning to work on dissemination. We began with a list of questions that we sent to each professional that served as a guide to help them think about what they would like to share. They served as more open-ended prompts.

Thanks for sharing the video about your project. I went to RIT in Rochester New York and learned a lot from sharing a campus with NTID. Your project is an excellent reminder about the importance of youth needing mentors they can identify with.

These videos are great. They seem useful also for hearing people to learn what it's like for deaf and hard of hearing people and how to work well together. Have you considered outreach more broadly?

Is there anything like this for other fields, beyond STEM? These resources would be great for any field.

Now that more work can be done remotely, I wonder if the combination of auto-transcripts and typing in chat or text to speech would open even more doors. Were there any stories along those lines?

I wonder if people have stories about using different kinds of technology to communicate and how that's changed the way they work and relate.

It is interesting that you mention the value of the stories to persons who are hearing. A component of our testing includes use with and by folks who are hearing. Since our funding is for STEM resources, we focus on it. However, you are quite correct about incorporating other fields. We are planning on exploring new and emerging technologies and use of interactions with the professionals. We are not quite there yet....but plan on getting there.

Very exciting work. I particularly liked that people can post questions to presenters. I am curious to learn about ways that you all are connecting interested students with available opportunities in STEM.  Are there next steps for adolescents who are motivated by these stories (in addition to posting a question). These stories seem like they could be good to highlight among local organizations that offer STEM programming.
